What places did the vikings take over and what boats did they use to do it
The Vikings settled in the following: Islands off the coast of Scotland -
Shetland, Orkney and The Hebrides, around the north and north west coast of Scotland and parts of Ireland. Dublin was is a Viking city. They also settled in the Isle of Man,Small parts of Wales, Northumbria (which included modern Yorkshire), East Anglia and Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Stamford and Lincoln. The vikings used boats to travel by sea, these boats are called long boats.Longboats were marine vessels made and used by the Vikings from Scandinavia and Iceland for trade, commerce, exploration. The longboats appeared between the 9th and 13th centuries. The average speed of Viking ships varied from ship to ship but lay in the range of 5–10 knots, In km that's 9.26-18.55.
