The vikings were Polytheist and hated the catholic faith because Catholics believe there's only one god. When the vikings came into a new town there would be nothing but bloodshed to the people of the town, until the vikings concurred the town. survivors of the massacres,stated that the Vikings would usually come during mass. That brings us to the original question "how bad were the vikings" the answer is, they were just as bad as all the other solders on the battle field to some they were everyday people trying to make a living. To others like Prisoners the vikings started to be portray the vikings as "the villains" in story books, and that is why every one thinks the vikings were a ruthless bunch of Neanderthals.
